La notizia pubblicata da Global Times (6 luglio 2021) – China’s Belt and Road Initiative gets greener -, dell’abbandono da parte della Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) di un piano per finanziare un impianto di combustione del carbone nello Zimbabwe, costituisce un passo in avanti nella strategia adottata dalla Cina per una Belt and Road Initiative più “green”.
È scritto nell’articolo: He Wenping, director of the African Studies Section at the Institute of West Asian and African Studies under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times that China’s development projects have been increasingly focused on sustainability rather than short-term effects, and have been trying to reduce the environmental impact.
C’è della strategia in questa scelta ma, certamente, c’è la presa d’atto che la necessità d’investimenti più sostenibili è un tema non più eludibile. Una BRI, che qualcuno ha ribattezzato come un progetto di globalizzazione “in salsa cinese”, meno focalizzata sugli effetti a breve termine può contribuire a rafforzare prospettive positive per l’intero pianeta.
